I have a bachelor, MSc and PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology, all from the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology of the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece). I have been working for Agroknow since January 2011, serving a variety of different positions. I am currently working as a Senior Project Manager for Agroknow, working on the implementation of research projects. At the same time, I am responsible for the Agro-Know social media and networks, among others. I am also collaborating as an external scientific associate with other institutions such as the University of Alcala (Spain), the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET) and the Agricultural University of Athens. I am also the Greek National Editor of Organic Eprints.
For the last five years I have been working with agricultural data (metadata, linked data, big data etc.), the management of various types of agricultural resources (such as bibliographic, educational) and metadata management workflows, digital repositories). social media & information management.
Vassilis Protonotarios has a 5-year bachelor, a 2-year MSc and a 4-year PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology, all from the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology of the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece). He has professional experience in the field of Organic Agriculture, both as an officer in the Directorate of Organic Agriculture of the Greek Ministry of Food and Rural Development as well from his participation in various EU projects concerning Organic Agriculture. During the last years he has provided his services to a number of organizations and companies in the agrifood sector, including Agroknow, the University of Alcala (Spain), the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET) and the Agricultural University of Athens. He is also the Greek National Editor of Organic Eprints.
He has experience on topics covering agricultural information management, Web 2.0 tools & social networks, metadata management, educational/training resources, digital repositories & collections etc. He has also been involved as a trainer, working with learning/training scenarios in various EU projects (such as Organic.Edunet, Organic.Balkanet, CerOrganic & eCOTOOL).
Vassilis is currently the Outreach and Networking Manager of NEUROPUBLIC, a Greek SME that is building information systems, focusing on smart farming services.His main areas of focus are digital marketing strategy (focusing on the representation of the company through social media) as well as networks handling and expansion.
I am combining my educational/academic background in agricultural biotechnology (BSc, MSc and PhD) with my personal interest & experience in agri-food information management, data & metadata management workflows, knowledge organization systems (KOS) and linking agricultural data sources. I have worked as a Senior Project Manager for Agroknow, where I contribute to the implementation of research projects; at the same time I was also responsible for the networks and social media (among others) as well as other marketing activities of Agroknow.I have experience in metadata management plans and workflows through my involvement in several EU-funded projects, such as agINFRA, Organic.Lingua and VOA3R (Virtual Open Access Agriculture & Aquaculture Repository), where I was involved in the data integration and linking processes involving several heterogeneous agricultural data sources as well as the design / development of metadata aggregation workflows and methodologies, focusing on the metadata harvesting processes as well as on multilingual aspects (In the case of Organic.Lingua).I have also worked with courses on the use of modern ICT tools and blended learning methods in various EU projects dealing with vocational education/training in organic agriculture, such as Organic.Edunet, Organic.Balkanet & CerOrganic.Specialties: agricultural information & knowledge management, data & metadata management workflows, digital repositories, social media, networking.
